I joined the Model United Nations Team at the University of Zurich in 2018 after starting my studies in Political Science. I have a strong interest in international politics but also felt that it would help me improve my public speaking skills. My goal for the end of the academic year 2018/19 was to gain a broader understanding of, and immerse myself into the world of MUN, but what I ended up getting was so much more. I got to know a diverse group of students I most likely would not have crossed paths with at university, some of whom in this short time became my close friends. I presented, debated and joined peers as teams to work on issues - some of which we did not necessarily agree with, but learned from, by researching the issues and views of the opposing side. Furthermore, I was able to experience the MUN world at an elevated international level when I attended the Harvard World Model United Nations Conference in Madrid last spring. One of the highlights of that conference for me was finding the confidence to step so far out of my comfort zone and hold a speech in front of a committee of roughly 200 of my peers from all over the world. MUN has taught me invaluable skills, I could have only dreamt of previously.
By joining the board this year as the Head of Communications, I am looking forward to combining MUN with my studies in Political Science and Media & Communications, working behind the scenes to get the news out and to spotlight, communicate and share all things MUN. I hope to make the experience for this coming year unforgettable for all.
