01.01.2012 JunesMUN Application is now open!
Each year JUNES, the United Nations Youth Association of Switzerland, organizes a national conference for all MUN Teams of Switzerland.
This conference is useful for domestic networking while also acting as a mandatory preparation conference for all delegates attending WorldMUN in Vancouver.
This time, JunesMUN will take place in Basel February 25-26, 2012.

Last Wednesday, the MUN Team University of Zurich had the pleasure to welcome two diplomats to speak about our current session topic: the status of Palestine.

The "Arab Spring" has brought a lot of work to the Security Council, and for the first time in history, it based one of its resolutions on the so called "R2P", which allowed other states to support the Libyan rebels in their struggle against the Qadafi-regime. The Rookie Session is ideal as an entry point into the world of MUN. It will take place on Wednesday, 05 October, in room KO2-F-175at 19:15 and contains an outline of a typical UZH Session, knowledge about the debate and tools used in it, and most importantly, it is the first session rookies will participate in! No preparation or country inscription necessary.

After the last issue covered the international system, this month we focus on the relative strength of the United Nations. The tension in Côte d'Ivoire and continuing crisis in Liyba challenge the power of collective decisions. We also look how and why Funding of the Organization is dependent on US internal politics.
